Peghead close
to finish-Click to see full size
Scroll Peghead is the first piece to be made in a new musical instrument, sort of like a test to demonstrate that one is capable of handling everything to come. But it is also the starting point because it is so much fun to do, and such a personal part of a new musical instrument.
In this workshop, a peghead will be carved by each participant while Dwain demonstrates and talks about the process and answers questions. Participants can expect to learn these things:
- A general familiarity with the carving process and how various stops are organized and accomplished.
- The tools used.
- How to deal effectively with breaks and mistakes.
- A guided example of carving.
- A list of tools, materials and sharpening stones required.
