The
Assembly Bench

Here is where I
set the braces and linings in the dulcimer body. there are two
Gerstner machinists tool chests on the bench, as well as a bench
vise. There is also a collection of steel blocks I use in certain
steps for clamping pressure. Up in the corner, you can see the
HEPA filter of my home-made shop air cleaner. An old furnace squirrel-cage
blower drives the cleaner. It does a pretty respectable job of
keeping the air clear when I'm sawing or sanding. The bench is
a maple laminated strip top that I got from a used industrial
supply place near by. I think I paid $35 for it, ten years ago!
