Standard
Hourglass

The Hourglass, though not the largest dulcimer in the Bear Meadow line, is nevertheless its standard-bearer.
A moderately priced instrument, its clear, sweet voice has plenty of acoustic punch for the performer and serious musician. It is often purchased as the primary concert performance instrument. With its finely balanced voice, the hourglass is especially suited to the demands of advanced playing styles such as 4-string picking, chording, etc. It has volume and projection unusual in mountain dulcimers.

Each Bear Meadow instrument features
carved scrolls at the peghead and tail. These scrolls are all
hand-carved without any machinery, and are one of our most cherished
signatures on the instrument.

The
back of the instrument is made of quarter-sawn, book-matched black
walnut. A feature of Bear Meadow dulcimers are the three feet.
This allows the instrument to be played easily on the table top
without scratching or moving about uncontrolled.
