The Graphic Designer
Bruce Richardson

Ever since I can remember I've loved "art", images, the visual. Maybe I'm just the product of a T.V. generation or maybe it's because I spent most of my formative years in such a beautiful place as Hawaii. I do know that not many things can surpass the joy and satisfaction of creating a good piece of art work, whether it's on paper or digital. Perhaps it's just "a job well done", or perhaps the act of capturing the essence of a moment, the light and the dark, forever, by your own hand. Perhaps it's just a male thing, mastery of the machine, turning those little zeros and ones into something viable. Whatever the reason, it is certainly a driving force that can't easily be ignored.

Today I live in a beautiful place nearly half a world away from Hawaii. It's called the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, or NEK for short. It's a place of seasons and cold winters and it's the place I got married, help raise a family, and built a home by hand (speaking of satisfying events in my life). There are not many opportunities for the creative sort here, but then there's not the hustle of people found elsewhere either. It's my hope that the internet will connect the the rural areas of the world and afford a more even playing field in the future. One thing I have learned is that evolution does take it's time, (I thought I'd be drawing moonscapes by now), but then things do seem to be moving along faster than usual these days.
